Stand With Myanmar – United in Loving Action

25 Oct 2025 | news

We are delighted to invite you to the event ‘Stand with Myanmar – United in Loving Action’.

Date: Saturday November 22nd, 2025.

Time: Arrive from 6.00pm. Event commences from 6.30pm and runs through until 8.00pm.

Location: Mount Pleasant Baptist Church (497 Marmion Street Booragoon).

Purpose: Baptist Churches in Western Australia are gathering to worship, pray, advocate for and raise funds for the people of Myanmar. Various international congregations will contribute to the evening through worship, traditional dress, and prayer in both English and local language.

Tragically, families in Myanmar continue to suffer great injustice. With more than ten thousand Baptist brothers and sisters (nearly 100 congregations) in Australia from various parts of Myanmar, we are standing ‘United in Loving Action’ with them. The violence taking place in Myanmar since the coup of February 2021 has been compounded in recent months by a combination of natural disasters and the withdrawal of international funding for refugee camps in bordering countries.

Baptist Churches of Western Australia, Baptist World Aid Australia and Baptist Mission Australia are working in partnership with the local Church to raise funds, advocate and to pray for people affected in, and on the border, of Myanmar.

Speaker: Rev. Tim Costello (AO), sharing a biblical message with updates and stories of impact from Myanmar. Tim is the Director of Ethical Voice, Executive Director of Micah Australia, Senior Fellow of Centre for Public Christianity, and formerly Chief Executive of World Vision Australia.

Guest: Senator Dean Smith, who has championed the Myanmar population in Perth. Dean has been a Liberal Senator for Western Australia since May 2012. He was appointed Shadow Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Shadow Assistant Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction in May 2025.
